Our excellent medical plan provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and prescription drug benefits and encourages a healthy lifestyle and preventive care.
Our Health Care Reimbursement Plan helps pay for healthcare expenses that are not fully reimbursed by insurance, such as dollars spent on glasses and contact lenses, orthodontia, and certain over-the-counter drugs, to name a few.
Dental benefits are available through a traditional dental plan option. The plan gives employees the freedom to use any dental provider they wish. Preventive and diagnostic services are covered at 100%. The plan also covers basic and major restorative services with applicable deductible and co-payments.
If an employee is unable to work due to illness or injury, Hartford HealthCare provides a short-term plan for full- and part-time employees to help them meet their financial responsibilities. This plan provides paid sick time, based on an employee’s paid service time, up to 1,040 hours at their base rate of pay.
In addition, Hartford HealthCare offers hospital-paid long-term disability insurance coverage to full-time employees, providing a monthly benefit equal to 60% of your pay up to $2,000 or $5,000 per month. In some cases, additional long-term disability coverage equal to 60% of pay to $8,500 per month may be purchased.
Hartford HealthCare provides hospital-paid term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage to full- and part-time employees. Additional life insurance is offered through a supplemental and portable plan and employees may also purchase a portable life insurance product for their spouse and term life insurance for their dependent child(ren).
Malpractice Insurance is provided by the practice. Tail coverage is provided contingent on meeting all separation of service requirements and policies and procedures.
Eligible staff are automatically enrolled when hired at 3% of their eligible pay in a defined contribution 401(k) plan. You can contribute a percentage of your eligible pay on a pre-tax basis through payroll deduction. Hartford HealthCare matches 100% of the first 4% you contribute and 50% of the next 2% that you contribute. In other words, if you contribute to the plan at 6% of eligible pay, your employer match is 5%. Hartford HealthCare also contributes an additional 2% of eligible earnings whether you contribute to the plan or not. You are eligible if you have worked 1,000 hours or more and are an active staff member on December 31 each year. You are 100% vested in your contributions; employer contributions are vested after two years of service (minimum of 1,000 hours). The 401(k) plan recognizes annual eligible earnings up to the IRS limit of $255,000. Benefits over the IRS annual earnings limit are provided through a 457(b) plan for certain employees and physicians.
Hartford HealthCare observes six named holidays and provides four additional holidays to be used at the employee’s discretion. Additionally, vacation time for employees ranges from two to four weeks.
Regular active full- and part-time employees are eligible for pre-paid tuition assistance of up to $3,000 each fiscal year. Selected degree programs are eligible for tuition assistance up to a total of $5,000 per year.
Physicians are reimbursed up to $3,500 per year toward CME expenses and receive five days per year for CME time. HHCMG will pay for CT state license, DEA, CSR, any required fees associated with medical staff or organizational memberships, dues for CT Medical Society and up to two other professional associations or societies—max of $2,500.
